The change is part of an effort to make chamber music more accessible, the group's news release states. Other steps will enhance the intimacy and warmth of concerts, said Lucile Agaisse, the group's spokewoman. During concerts, musicians will discuss the music from the stage before performing it. Meet-and-greet sessions with the musicians will follow performances. The nine-concert schedule will include the Houston debuts of the Modigliani Quartet, a French string quartet founded in 2003, and the Kavafian-Shifrin-Schub Trio. Familiar groups, such as the Emerson String Quartet, the MirĂ³ Quartet from Austin and the Canadian Brass, will return. Schubert's "Rosamunde" Quartet; Beethoven's Quartet in F major, Op. 135; Johannes Brahms' Quintet, Op. 111.
