The Greater Houston Partnership will launch a new site Thursday to aid its efforts in recruiting and attracting young professionals to the Houston area. Late last year, a task force found that Houston produces two jobs in science, technology, engineering and math, the STEM areas, for every one student who graduates from a local college or university.

The unemployment rate in the Houston area rose in January to 4.8 percent, the Texas Workforce Commission reported Friday, as job losses in the oil and gas sector continued to take their economic toll.
